What will a manufacturer do for one of its best retailers? Well, if you’re Giro and your retailer is Backcountry.com it appears that you’ll build them a custom, exclusive, limited edition, special color way Empire mountain bike shoe that they can sell in their stores.
Collaborating with industry-leader Giro to create and offer bike enthusiasts a high-quality, one-of-a-kind mountain bike shoe is an exciting opportunity for us to grow with our vendor partners and bring a unique, limited-edition product and shopping experience to our fans,” said backcountry.com CEO Jill Layfield. “The Empire shoe in Backcountry Blue is a beautiful product that’s functional and a sure standout on the trails.”
The shoe will be rolled out this weekend (April 25-27, 2014) at the 11th Annual Whiskey Off-Road even in Prescott, Arizona and then go on sale at backcountry.com and CompetitiveCyclist.com starting June 1, 2014. April 1, 2014 — The latest from Mill Valley, Calfiornia is that Wilderness Trail Bikes and its urban counterpart, Freedom have joined together to be rebranded as Wilderness Trail & Freedom, or WTF.
“We’ve asked for WTF for quite some time now,” elaborated Justin Kirkwood, WTF’s creative director. “The ThickSlick tire’s overwhelming success is irrefutable. Now under one roof, WTF will offer a staggering portfolio. From 16 versions of the WTF ThickSlick to 11 different WTF Vigilantes spanning 26, 27.5, and 29”, WTF has augmented its reach. The future is bright for WTF.”
What the freedom? For the official word from WTF, follow the jump. (We’re just glad people still have the energy to create this stuff. April 1st used to be our favorite day in publishing. . . ) [click to continue…]

During the 2014 Vital MTB Test Session the crew took a little side hill detour on White Line in Sedona, Arizona. We have no interest in this line and honestly, it’s pretty hard to watch, but damn, Jess Pedersen, Lear Miller and John Hauer are gnarly.
