It’s always great to see so many bikes together in one place with so many people who love them. Not even a 98 degree hot blast could melt the smiles off everyone faces at Interbike’s Outdoor Demo in Boulder City, Nevada September 17 – 18, 2012.
With only 8 hours a day and hundreds and hundreds of bikes it’s difficult to even know where to begin. In fact, we were so blown away by all the product that we didn’t even ride today. We attempted to sort things out for tomorrow. We saw a 36er (yes, bozo), some 650b’s, and an electronic suspension system that we’re only beginning to get our heads around. But that could take a while.
In the meantime, click here for a complete gallery of what we’ve seen so far.

Josh Patterson, the former editor Dirt Rag Magazine is now a technical writer for BikeRadar US, according to a story on BikeRadar.com.
“Josh understands all the complexities of the bicycle and can clearly explain the pros and cons of any set-up to any level of rider,” said Ben Delaney, editor in chief of BikeRadar US. “He can easily distinguish hype from substance, and his enthusiasm for riding bikes is contagious. We’re lucky to have him.”
Patterson brings one more masters degree to the BikeRadar US staff. It would appear that BikeRadar is getting even more serious about product reviewing.

Not going to make it to Las Vegas for Interbike this year? No problem. Interbike will be producing a morning show
and streaming it live every morning from the Sands Convention Center. It will be called Good Morning Interbike.
“The combination of video and Internet is undeniably powerful when promoted properly and full of exciting, relevant content,” said Pat Hus, Managing Director of Interbike. “Our team has found ways to improve Good Morning Interbike, and I think this segment will be an increasingly popular outlet for cycling consumers and industry folks to get a taste of what we’ve got going in Las Vegas.”
The show will be hosted by David Bernstein the man behind The Spokesman Cycling Roundtable Podcast, and The Fredcast. It can all be viewed here: http://www.interbike.com/live. Follow the jump for the official details. [click to continue…]

Charlotte, North Carolina isn’t going to put up with any funny business during the Democratic National Convention. That’s why they’re launched a crew of bike cops (just like the one’s Tampa, Florida used for the Republican Convention), according to a story in Biz Journals.
Another Tampa innovation that promises to move to Charlotte and beyond is “fast moving packs of law enforcement on bicycles.” Tampa police chief Jane Castor says this form of policing may become a fixture in the future, and not just in Tampa, where 200 bike officers from around Florida patrolled downtown.
More cops on bikes means more cops who know what it’s like to deal with cars on the road. And that has to be good for everyone.
