Trek Recalls Over 19,000 Ebikes

by editors on January 29, 2026

As if it weren’t embarrassing enough to ride an ebike, now Trek (and their Electra brand) is recalling over 19,000 of their FX+1 midsteps and Electra Townie Go! bikes after it was discovered that “rear wheel bolts installed on model year 2026” model can break when torqued causing the wheel to “separate from the bicycle” entirely.

No, you don’t want your rear wheel coming off your bike while you’re bombing through traffic at 22 MPH. If you have one, take it in to get it fixed immediately. For all the details, please click the link. Click here to find a local shop.
