Canyon Grabs Title BWR Sponsorship

by editors on October 26, 2017

The country’s most unique cycling event, The Belgian Waffle Ride, has a new title sponsor for 2018 with Canyon Bicycles. The Germany based company, which sells bicycles directly to consumers via their website, launched their brand in the United States in mid August.

“The Canyon Belgian Waffle Ride will be an ideal event for Canyon to showcase their variety of bikes perfect for the back roads of San Diego, or whatever twisted courses your heart may lead you on,” says Blair Clark, Canyon U.S. president. “The BWR, or ‘Hell of the North County,’ is not just an extraordinary race. It’s a celebration of life, how much can be accomplished on a bike, and the magical connections that develop between people who suffer together (s)mile after (s)mile.”

2017 Oregon Gravel Grinder Series

by editors on February 27, 2017

The old Gorge Roubaix has been magically transformed into the 2017 Oregon Gravel Grinder Series and will include races in The Dalles, Bend, and Mr. Hood. Each event, which kicks off April 2, 2017 in The Dalles, Oregon, will feature at least two distances to choose from.

We have selected the most scenic, challenging, and quality roads to be found in the state of Oregon. Many are iconic and are included as part of Oregon Scenic Bikeways. These are signature roads that are unique and that you will find no were else. Each ride comes complete with chip timing that allows for immediate results posted onsite and online as well as interim timing points and competitions along the way. Well stocked aid stations, porta potties and well signed courses mean that you can focus completely on the task of finishing strong. Each has a post event party were riders can bask in their accomplishment and trade stories with friends and fellow riders of their experience along the way.

2017 BWR Registration Now Open

by editors on November 30, 2016

bwr2017grass

Big, fancy, famous, gravel grinding, dirt churning, road racing suffer fests like North County San Diego California’s 2017 Cervélo Belgian Waffle Ride tend to sell out early for some reason and that’s why we’re reminding you that registration for the 2017 event (scheduled for Sunday May 21, 2017) is now open. Click here to register before you read the rest, if you must.

What’s up for the 2017 event? Here are a few details from the organizers:

The course will change a bit this year and not be quite as long. Yes, you read that correctly. As with all spring classics, sometimes the courses change for the better. We know ours is.

There is a new team category being added to the event for both the Waffle and Wafer. You will be able to race with your teammates against other teams in Male, Female and Co-Ed classifications.  The cumulative time of the top four finishers from each team  will determine the placings.

This will be the most festive and interesting event to date. We have many new fun and exciting features to roll out for everyone this year, on a more manageable course, with a stacked field of riders from all over the world.

We are very pleased to share all of this with you in May.

Danke,

by editors on September 1, 2016

wtb_riddler45

Looking for the perfect shoes for your gravel/CX steed? WTB might have just the tire for you with their Riddler 45c.

Expanding what gravel can do while happily accommodating dirt touring, the Riddler 45c corners with confidence on hard surfaces while still sinking its teeth deep into your favorite trails. It encourages exploration…through dirt, gravel, smiles, frowns, blood, sweat and tears. . . . Built for unfaltering speed through a wide range of conditions, the Riddler 45c delivers added gusto to the rider who finds themselves on the roughest of roads. Incredibly versatile in a what-can‘t-it-do type of size, this tire breathes capability when mounted to any drop bar bike.

It may be a little wide for CX racers who like to abide by UCI rules, but for everyone else, it look pretty sweet. The Riddler 45c’s are available at the WTB website. Click the link for more info.
