Cervello Joins Belgian Waffle Ride

Cervélo Cycles is joining the world famous Belgian Waffle Ride as the event’s title sponsor for the next two years. The event which kicks on in Escondido, California the weekend of April 23-24, 2016.

San Diego, CA—Monuments of Cycling, the founders of the Belgian Waffle Ride, is pleased to announce a two-year partnership between the unique cycling event and Cervélo Cycles—a pairing more harmonious than Roubaix and cobbles and moules and frites. Lending their name to the most colorful cycling event in the country, the 2016 Cervélo Belgian Waffle Ride presented by SPY will continue to provide riders with more fun, pain and elevation than rural Belgium could ever offer, in addition to a Cervélo C Series bike demo, two-day cycling & fitness expo, custom-brewed libations from The Lost Abbey and an unforgettable riding experience.

A leader in designing and engineering the world’s fastest bikes, Cervélo recently unveiled a line of endurance road bikes to conquer every road—the C Series—that will be available for demo during the BWR Expo, held on April 23 and April 24 at The Lost Abbey Brewery in San Marcos, CA. “The Belgian Waffle Ride and the C5 are made for each other,” says Cervélo Director of Global Marketing Antoine Ballon, who will be taking part in the event. “I can’t wait to get out there on a fast, ultralight bike that’s been engineered to ride on a variety of surfaces and in a broad range of conditions. As we like to say: The nicest roads are not always the nicest roads.”

The fifth annual Cervélo Belgian Waffle Ride and Wafer Ride will roll from the Lost Abbey Brewery in San Marcos, CA on April 24, taking riders through San Diego’s rural back roads and across undulating terrain including steep climbs, water crossings, gravel, sand and tarmac. Offering two route options for the second consecutive year—the 144 mile Waffle and 68 mile Wafer—proceeds raised from the 2016 BWR will continue to help support the event’s beneficiary, the Challenged Athletes Foundation®.
