Our favorite riding glasses, the Spy Cutter have been upgraded and we couldn’t be more stoked. Few sunglasses that we’ve worn recently have given us the coverage, protection, and lack of hassle that the Cutters have over the past year. And, it appears that Spy President and CEO Michael Marckx is even more excited about it.

“We’re breaking away now. With its squared-off silhouette and sweptback edges, the Cutter is a performance sunglass unlike anything else out there: ‹a uniquely SPY style in direct contrast to the robotic look that’s been foisted upon the cycling world for decades,” says Marckx. “We set out to design a sunglass that would perform as the ultimate cycling piece and yet have the style and artistic sensibilities of a fashion frame, without sacrificing any of SPY’s patented technologies. We not only achieved our goal but raised the bar, literally, by adding the Fast Track lens system and our innovative Happy Lens in one beautiful, but hard working piece of art.”

Yeah, all that, but we just like the way the Cutters keep our sweat off the lenses and are so light we don’t even know they’re on. For the official word from Spy, follow the jump, or click here to buy a pair.SPY BRINGS DOPE BACK TO CYCLING WITH THE CUTTER

Happy Lens Technology, Fashion and Performance Emerge Victoriously as One

For Immediate Release: August 27, 2013
CARLSBAD, Calif.‹SPY® is happy to announce the release of the Cutter‹the most sophisticated and technologically advanced performance sunglass on the market featuring the innovative SPY Happy Lens. Fusing fashion-forward design with SPY¹s new Fast Track lens changing system, the Cutter is the ultimate crossover: a multi-sport sunglass designed to rock the podium and the after party.

³We’re BREAKING AWAY now. With its squared-off silhouette and sweptback edges, the Cutter is a performance sunglass unlike anything else out there‹a uniquely SPY style in direct contrast to the robotic look that’s been foisted upon the cycling world for decades,² says Michael Marckx, SPY president and CEO. ³We set out to design a sunglass that would perform as the ultimate cycling piece and yet have the style and artistic sensibilities of a fashion frame, without sacrificing any of SPY’s patented technologies. We not only achieved our goal but raised the bar, literally, by adding the Fast Track lens system and our innovative Happy Lens in one beautiful, but hard working piece of art.²

The Cutter is the first style to feature the innovative SPY Fast Track lens changing system‹the easiest way to adjust for changes in light. By simply pressing a release button behind the nose bridge, the top bar of the frame swings up for quick and easy lens swapping, allowing you to adapt to variable course conditions or just change your look as you roll up to the podium.

Jam-packed with technology, the Cutter is the first performance style to feature SPY¹s revolutionary new Happy Lens‹a polarized and color contrast-enhancing lens designed to maximize the transmission of the sun’s “good” rays while still blocking out the “bad” rays (UV and short-wave blue light). Additionally, the Cutter features SPY¹s Victory Lens coating which consists of hydrophobic, olio phobic and scratch resistant layers that keep you seeing clearly as conditions heat up. Each pair also comes equipped with a bonus low-light lens and protective carrying case.

The latest addition to SPY¹s versatile Performance line, the Cutter surpasses the competition with SPY¹s patented Scoop® ventilation system, and Hytrel rubber nose pads and flexible temple tips to ensure proper fit and comfort even in the wettest conditions. Combined, these elements give you the most powerful and fashion-forward multi-sport eyewear ever to ride your face.

Racing to stores this week, the Cutter is available in four color ways‹Matte Black/White with Happy Lens Polar + Bonus Rose lens, Clear Smoke with Bronze w/Green Spectra lens + Bonus Rose lens, Black with Grey lens + Bonus Yellow lens, and White with Bronze w/Light Blue Spectra Lens + Bonus Yellow lens. MSRP for the Cutter ranges from $160 to $180.
